Cleaning and Caring for Your Wood Blinds
Wood blinds look great and are convenient to use, but cleaning and maintaining them can be a challenge.
The easiest and most convenient way to clean wooden blinds is to wear cotton gloves and run your fingers along the slats. To clean blinds that are high up, use a step stool to get there comfortably. You may also remove the blinds and lay them on an old sheet to clean them more easily.
Never put wooden blinds in water or use water to clean them, as wood absorbs moisture. You may use a slightly damp cloth, just make sure to dry the slats completely using a lint-free or microfiber cloth afterward.
Compared to aluminum blinds, you’ll also have to clean wood blinds more often because they tend to collect more dirt. To reduce dust buildup, it’s best to clean them at least once a week. Do not clean horizontal blinds by wiping them back and forth; just wipe them from one side to another once.
